P251111
P25 or (APCO-25) is a digital communication standard designed for use by public services in North America.
P25 radios largely replaced analogue radios, but add the ability to transfer data and encrypt voice, making it ideal for Police, Fire, Ambulance and Rescue Services.
The Phase 1 and later Phase 2 protocol (allowed two channels in a single 12.5Khz bandwidth) are backwards compatible, but not visa versa.
P25 uses C4FM modulation similar to Yaesu's Fusion.
The Phase 2 implementation is now used extensively in Trunking Radio Networks.
Limited amounts of P25 equipment are appearing on the Amateur Radio market.
